Beyonce speaks directly to me

You know when you listen to a song and you feel like the artist has tapped directly into your mind? I love that. When your whole psyche changes and you feel raw emotion just by listening to music. I love that. I'm addicted to music and don't know where I would be if it didn't exist. I've been feeling really down lately. For months in fact; and I was listening to one of my favourite songs yesterday and it really sounded different to me all of a sudden... like it was me singing those lyrics, rather than just hearing them.

I wanna leave my footprints on the sands of time
Know there was something that, meant something that I left behind
When I leave this world, I'll leave no regrets
Leave something to remember, so they won't forget

I was here
I lived, I loved
I was here
I did, I've done everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know
I was here

I want to say I lived each day, until I died
And know that I meant something in, somebody's life
The hearts I have touched, will be the proof that I leave
That I made a difference, and this world will see

I was here
I lived, I loved
I was here
I did, I've done everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know

I was here
I lived, I loved
I was here
I did, I've done everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know
I was here

I just want them to know
That I gave my all, did my best
Brought someone some happiness
Left this world a little better just because

I was here

Do you ever obsess about leaving a legacy and then being happy to leave the world behind? Is having children enough of a legacy? Do you ever wonder if creating children is as much as you can do for them, because you know they deserve more than what you can offer them? I don't feel like I could achieve anything more than to have been a part in creating the 2 most beautiful souls I've ever known. When music speaks directly to you and gains unrestricted access to your emotions, it's a powerful thing...

Music makes me very emotional - well, experience emotion far more deeply. I tend to listen to a lot of sad stuff though!!

Subject: Music *is* a powerful thing

You're not alone. Music's been a big part of my life since I was little, and I'm pleased my kids have also embraced it. I associate many of the most important events in my life with music - indeed, each of our three has a 'birth song' that was playing on a shuffled playlist on my iPod during labour and delivery. Music is at its most powerful when it's personal, and I often find myself using snippets of songs in blog posts just because they capture what I want to say more perfectly than anything I could ever write.
