Beer 52 Review & Discount Coupon

20/12/2014 12:02

There's many things I'd class as being one of lifes great pleasures and having a box full of beer turn up on your doorstep is most definitely one of them! That's exactly what happened to me recently thanks to the good folk at Beer 52. Beer 52 are the UK's most popular craft beer club; searching out the best beers around away from the mainstream and delivering them to your door. Supporting microbreweries and small batch brewers they make the whole process feel very personal and family like. Each box comes with 8 different bottles/cans representing different beers varying in taste, origin and strength. The box also contained a pack of wasabi peanuts to aid the desire for liquid nectar and a magazine that gave in depth information of all 8 beers, their brewers and home brewery. Learning about the beer and the passion these small businesses have for their product made the drinking process all the more enjoyable.

As a shift worker, I get a 5 day weekend to look forward to once a month and I saved my box to celebrate that weekend coming around. In fact, the monthly subscription service that Beer 52 offer could well become a new tradition for every one of my 5 day weekends. However as a parent, drinking 8 beers in an evening isn't ever going to realistically be on the cards. Because of that, I invited a friend along to help me work through and score the beers... that way I still got to try all 8 and had fun ranking them in the process. Here are the beers we had an how we rated them should you wish to seek them out individually;

Triporteur - 6.2% Belgian beer. Sweet, sharp and malty. Our favourite in the box. 4.5/5

Septem - 4.5% Red Ale that was perfect for winter. Sweet and strong tasting of barley. 3/5

Graffiti - 5% bitter IPA. Bitter tasting but crisp, sharp and refreshing. 2.5/5

Killer Cat - 5.8% IPA. Very strong tasting, heavy and bitter. Not an easy drink. 2/5

Cwtch - 4.6% floral tasting Welsh beer. Full of flavour. 3.5/5

Fourpure Session IPA - 4.2% IPA served up in a can. Fruity, fragrant and moreish - 3/5

Signature Pale - 4.1% refreshing and sweet beer. Lasting aftertaste. 3/5

Blonde - 3.5% product of The Hop Studio makes a great session beer. Very tasty for a weaker beer. 3.5/5

Beer 52 and their subscription service is a great way to try new beers that you won't often see in your local shops. The beers are different every month and the accompanying magazine means you learn about the product you're consuming too - all whilst supporting smaller businesses. But the fact you know you're going to get a box of beer turn up on your doorstep, but you don't know when means it will be like Christmas every month! And speaking of Christmas, this would make a great last minute present for any man (or woman) in your life! The box is reasonably priced at £24 a month with free delivery and the ability to cancel at any time. What's more, we at Dad Creek are giving you the chance to save £10 off your first box - just enter DADCREEK10 at checkout.
