40 Days of Fitness Challenge #FitnessRevolution - Introduction
17/02/2015 21:23Today is Shrove Tuesday and my belly is bloated from pancakes and sweet treats. It's the last day before lent and I'm sure that I'm not the only one feeling like this - but unlike most of you I won't be giving anything up for the next 40 days. I never have observed this tradition. Instead I'm going to commit do doing more. Not more eating, but more moving! Since our trip to America back in November I've been lay on my back since falling off the fitness bandwagon and despite new years resolutions and promises, I've struggled to fully climb back aboard again. Luckily for me, DW Fitness are at the wheel of that bandwagon; steering its course with confidence and are reaching down to my outstretched hand to pull me aboard. I am joining them and their small team of bloggers across the country in commiting to a challenge we're referring to as a #FitnessRevolution.
The 40 Days of Fitness Challenge will see me take on a new challenge every day for 40 days (with Sundays to rest and reflect thrown in, but not included in the count to 40). The challenges are predominantly fitness focused, and get progressively tougher throughout the course of the programme but also I'll be challenged to use new ingredients and mix things up in the kitchen and with my diet. The prospect excites me. It's been too long since I was regularly exercising and I'm hoping that this is going to be a kickstart for me. To be challenged is motivating, and to have it mapped out for me saves my brain from working too hard, which gives me more energy to put into the physical side of my lifestyle.
I'm going to be sperodically blogging about my journey over the next 40 days. I hope to succeed, and maybe even motivate one or two of you in the process. In fact, why not join me? Get in touch, and I'll happily share the details of the challenge with you. This is about promoting healthy lifestyle changes and committing to them. Too often as parents we forget about ourselves and neglect our own health and wellbeing. It can be difficult to find the time, the energy, the motivation... but it's so important that we do. Being fit will hopefully allow me to be a better, more active parent right the way through my childrens childhood years. Leading a healthy lifestyle is also one of the best examples we can set for our offspring; showing them the right way to live and hopefully have them follow suit and live longer and happier.
Join me on my journey over the next 40 days. Hopefully it will be the start of a new lifestyle. A new lifestyle I want, but often struggle to implement.
