Valentine's Day thoughts

10/02/2015 15:15

I'm not a fan of Valentines Day. I like the idea of celebrating love, I just don't like the commercial drive behind celebrating love just one day of the year. I buy gifts and flowers for my wife all year long and try and be spontaneous in my approach; catching her off guard rather than buying on a day she might expect to receive. Not only that but I buy gifts for my children and specifically flowers for my daughter. Just because my daughter is about to turn 7 months old and knows nothing about giving and receiving, doesn't mean she shouldn't be the recipient of flowers. My daughter will learn her value and her self worth through her Daddy. I made sure I started teaching those lessons to her before she was even born. Love the women in your life. I love mine. Valentines or no valentines...

That's lovely, you share the same sentiment as my other half who refuses to let the commercial aspect of the day drive him to buy me gifts. But on the other side he is always getting me spontaneous gifts throughout the year so I can't complain!

For me it is an everyday love rather than a reminder on one particular day x

I think we will have some food and watch a DVD, not really into the whole V Day thing really.

Honestly we don't really bother with Valentine's Day, it seems a little fake just to be all loved up on one day of the year.

I am not a fan of valentines day either, showing your love throughout the year is a much better. I love that you buy your daughter flowers.

I do confess to liking Valentine's Day but I'm also a fan of the year round showing of affection :)

I completely agree - it means so much more on a spontaneous thought. I love that you buy flowers for your daughter too.

I'm in complete agreement with you - why should there be just one day of the year when we celebrate love - and why should it just be about the love we have for our partners?
