First Olympian Eros Beard Oil and Moustache Wax Review

18/05/2015 19:57

I'm over 4 months into my first journey as a beardsman and am loving having a facial forest more and more every day. I get a lot of compliments, but as with everything else it isn't to everyones taste. Thats linked to my biggest annoyance so far of my experimentation with facial hair. If I wore an outfit that someone didn't like, they more than likely wouldn't tell me. If I grew to be hugely overweight, the majority of people wouldn't call me fat to my face. I see people everyday that have their own image and style that I might not like, but I never openly criticise their appearance or put them down. For the life of me, I can't understand then why people who don't like me with a beard, feel the need to tell me so and put me down. Honestly, that's been the biggest challenge so far of growing out of my natural facial hair style. Any other challenges have been dealt with by my trusty sidekick First Olympian.

First Olympian Eros Moustache Wax

Since getting my hands on their beard oils and grooming kit a couple of months back, not a day has gone by where my beard hasn't been lovingly oiled and combed. It took me some time, but I settled on Eros as my number one scent and am now in possession of a full size bottle of its sweet beard caressing nectar.  Eros smells incredible with it's warm, citrus keynotes that scream summer evening walks along a Mediterranean beach. Eros means 'desire' and signifies the loving heart of a man who wishes to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. It should therefore come as no surprise when I tell you that with this keeping my skin and hair sof and smelling Godly, I walk out of the house upbeat and confident on a regular basis.

First Olympian Eros Beard Oil

Before I started using First Olympian beard oils, my beard felt rough, dry and the skin underneath often itchy and flaky. Less than a week of regular use and those issues have vanished and never returned. No longer do I need to look for faults in my beard. Instead I spend my mirror time enjoying it and admiring its growth as it gets longer and fuller by the week. The grooming scissors I showed you in the last review helped navigate my first trimming experience and I found myself struggling to fault any of the products sold under the First Olympian umbrella... so much so that I found myself raving about them to friends and local barbers on a regular basis. That's why I wanted to try out their newest product as soon as it launched!

Beard Trimming

First Olympian have recently released moustache finishing wax in all of their main scents... including my favourite Eros. That's what I needed to finish my new look off. Being relatively new to the beardsman community, it took me some time to get used to moustache wax but once I did I was reaping the benefits. The wax is solid, which means you have to work it and put some heat into it (it melts at approx 140 degrees) before it becomes manageable amongst your moustache hair. Once worked into your moustache, combed through and evenly spread you can do pretty much anything with the hair. You can shape it, curl it or (as I prefer) keep it natural but just under a little more control. Moustache wax is essential when it comes to going somewhere where you intend on eating in public. The waxed, styled moustache can be kept controlled and out of your mouth and that's going to make you all the more confident and worry free in a social situation.

You might initially think that moustache wax is for curling the ends of your 'mo, and you don't want to do that, therefore you don't need it. Wrong. Moustache wax is an essential for anyone who has hair that comes below the upper lip in order to keep it under control. First Olympian offer that wax to match all of the stunning scents I've already told you about and it makes perfect sense to stick to the same scent thats on the rest of your face via the beard oil. First Olympian name all of their scents after the Greek Gods and treat your facial hair like it's that of a God. Don't neglect your beard and go First Olympian!

Note: I previously purchased the care kit myself, but was scent the beard oils and moustache wax in return for this review. All words are my own, honest and truthful.

I have to say, being perfectly honest, I prefer clean shaven to beards. You suit it though ;) Kaz

Lovely looking kit to sit in the bathroom. Mens products tend too look dull but these are lovely.

I'm not a fan of beards but I'd never tell anyone I didn't like theirs! The husband occasionally likes to grow a beard and whilst I don't like it, I never complain because it's up to him what he does with his facial hair!
He's currently beard free, thankfully :)
